Recently Completed:

1959 AC Bristol "BEX-1045"

Overview:

BEX-1045, infamously known as the "Mongoose" underwent a complete restoration here at Abacus. Winning 32/35 Concourse D'Elegance's in California, as well as taking 2nd at Pebble Beach throughout the 60s, was once owned by Jerry Scheberies and Walt Peterson, who fitted the Olds V8 with a Corvette Transmission, originally in Svecia Red with black interior. Abacus acquired the car in 2013, where it completed restoration in 2019 to nearly identical heritage specifications.

1960 AC Bristol Greyhound

Overview:

This AC Greyhound is a 1960 production model and is only 1 of 83 Greyhounds produced between its production era from 1959-1963, and even less fitted with a Bristol engine. This Greyhound underwent a complete restoration to original specifications and is fitted with its original Bristol engine. This example underwent a full overhaul and included a complete engine rebuild, entirely new interior, fresh paint, and various original additions throughout.

Overview:

Roque González Garza, The acting President of Mexico in 1915, special ordered this 1932 Ford coupe with an elongated rear window. His son took over the car a few years later and modified it for racing, where it was reportedly successful on the podium in much of its history and comes with the badges to prove it. Left largely original, this coupe still boasts its racing glory day decals, a fitted 239 Mercury flathead V8 with Edelbrock cylinder heads, and many bangs and dents to prove its history. It was raced largely throughout Mexico and in Texas, especially Baja 500s, before it was stored by the President's grandson until 2006. Jonathan Auerbach bought the car out of storage and entered it in "The Great Race" where it went from North Carolina to California in 15 days. Abacus purchased the car in 2008, where the interior was replaced with red leather and matching accents, the plastic windows were replaced with original glass, and the front fenders were restored to original specifications. It has remained in our showroom for the last decade, gracing our museum with its heritage. For an interesting side note, this car was largely debated as being built in Guatemala, rather than in Detroit due to the noteworthy long side fenders on short flat-boards. No car produced in the USA on record has these specifications.

Overview:

This one-off 1970 Triumph TR6 was purchased by Abacus in 2005 and underwent a performance upgrade on the (original) motor that consisted of the following:

  • Balanced blue-printed, Roller-Rocker motor bored over with Stainless Steel Valves,

  • Smith Brothers Push Rods,

  • Bronze Guilds,

  • Harden Valve Seats and

  • Babe Erson cam

The connection rods were also rebuilt as Triple Weber 40 DCOE's, along with KYB Shocks installed on the rear and rebuilt rear independent suspension. The exhaust system is a 4-pipe Monza free flow system and the paint is the original Midnight Blue. Since completion, it has remained in Abacus's showroom, started monthly to keep the engine going and is clean inside and out. She is of Museum quality and kept in one, a showstopper for sure. Overview:

This beautiful 1955 Chevrolet Cameo Carrier has been fully restored in the original two-tone Ivory white with red paint job and has an original fiberglass finish. One of only 2,220 made in its debut year, it has undergone a total restoration to pristine, mint condition inside and out and has all the original features including the wrap-around rear window (which is still the original from 1955), chrome bumpers, wheel covers, spare tire carrier (also still original from 1955), accents, and egg-crate grill. This Cameo also boasts the original fiberglass finish (as mentioned), lower hood, sleeker fender lines, and an originally upholstered deluxe interior.

The engine was originally Chevy’s superior 265-cid V-8 optional engine but a rebuilt 283 V8 with an automatic turbo 350 transmission was installed, along with a new oak bed with stainless steel strips, metal inside bedsides, all upholstery to original specifications; the chassis was blasted, painted and reassembled, rear-end was rebuilt with new ring and pinion bearings, new radiator, new whitewall Bias Ply Tires, and new muffler and brakes. It is the original 114 inch wheelbase with 6.5 foot cargo bed and built at the Baltimore, MD Plant. It was shipped to Elizabeth City, NC on August 19, 1955 and bought the next day at Perry Motors Co. Not many 1955 Cameos of this caliber are still around today, especially in superb condition throughout like this one, under and over. You can see more here: 1955 Chevrolet Cameo Half-Ton.
