Engine Shop
The heart of every performance vehicle is the engine. It’s that shove into the seat that makes us smile every time it happens. The quality and care in the preparation of that engine is the difference between a smile and a wince. Our machine shop is dedicated to achieving that “smile”.
Our fully equipped engine shop can literally take your worn-out engine and return it to as-new specification. If you are interested in performance upgrades, no problem. Our engine techs are versed in all aspects of performance enhancements. Years of building performance engines have provided us with a broad knowledge base and the experience necessary to successfully assist you with your next project. Whether your project is a stock rebuild, street-performance engine or full-performance engine for an old MG or Triumph, Ford 4.6 modular or Honda VTEC, our machine shop can make you smile.
Engine Shop Capabilities and Equipment:
Listed below are some of the operations routinely performed in the engine shop. It is not an all-inclusive list. The list is provided to illustrate the most common operations we perform.

Cylinder Head Operations:
Crankshaft and Flywheel:
Connecting Rods and Pistons:
Engine Testing:
Cleaning and Inspection:
All engine parts are cleaned in a Mart jet washer. Cast-iron parts may be tumbled in an airless shot blaster. Some parts may be bead blasted in our manual cabinet. Our inspection equipment consists of simple dye-penetrant, magnaflux and a pressure test bench.

Repair Facility
Our service and repair facility is ready to serve you! A recent expansion now provides eight bays and six lifts for your automotive service and repair needs. In addition to standard service work, we now offer performance installations and upgrades for late-model imports and domestics. All performance work can be tested and tuned on our chassis dynamometer.
Our ASE certified technicians provide brake, clutch, suspension, driveline and electrical service for a variety of makes and models. We specialize in Porsche, Jaguar and British marques, American collectable and muscle cars, Alfa Romeo, early Ferrari and other exotics. Looking for Honda conversions and swaps? You’re in the right place. Our technicians speak Honda. Hondata, AEM ECU tuning, turbo conversions, clutch upgrades and engine swaps are no problem.
We have recently added the AutoLogic vehicle diagnostic program to our quiver of tools. This service allows us to diagnose your late-model Jaguar XK-8, XJ-8, and S-Type with dealer-level access to your car's trouble codes.
We are a full-service shop that can help you with most any problem. From simple tune-ups and oil changes to electronic diagnostics or complete mechanical restorations, our repair facility can accommodate your needs.
Chassis Dyno
Our chassis dyno is based on the DynoJet model 248 single-drum dyno. This dyno features a 48-inch diameter drum and 1200-whp capability. DynoJet’s are known for their durability and repeatability. The repeatability is due to the simple fact there is only one moving part – the drum. Wheel horsepower is determined by how quickly your vehicle can accelerate the drum. By sampling the rotational speed of the drum, the acceleration rate is determined. Once the acceleration rate is known, wheel horsepower is calculated. No special absorbers or brakes are attached to your vehicle and you don’t need to know the weight or gear ratios of your car. The vehicle is strapped into position on the dyno, an ignition lead is connected to your vehicle and you’re ready for testing. For advanced engine tuning, additional engine parameters can be monitored and logged. We can provide Wideband 02, fuel pressure and manifold vacuum or boost.
If you would like to test your car at our shop, please contact us to set an appointment. Baseline testing (for three test runs) is $75.00 (no air / fuel) or $100 (with air / fuel). Three test runs are accomplished to ensure the vehicle has stabilized. Vehicles that are not run at WOT often see an increase in power from the first to second run and the third run will usually overlay the second confirming the power has stabilized. If you’re interested in extended tuning and testing, the Dyno may be rented for longer blocks of time.
Engine Dyno
Engine dynamometer testing is an important and integral part of an engine development program. The ability to accurately and repeatedly measure, control and monitor the engine is the hallmark of the engine dyno. No other piece of shop equipment can match the overall test capabilities of the engine dyno.
Our facility is equipped with a Stuska model 800 water brake dynamometer. Data acquisition and processing is handled by a Depac data logger. Recorded data is stored and displayed on a PC running Depac software. The Stuska model 800 water brake is capable of absorbing 800 hp at 8,000 rpm.
With the rise in popularity of the chassis dyno, many people consider engine dyno testing expensive, unnecessary or redundant. A comparison of engine and chassis dyno capabilities can help determine which dyno will meet your objectives. Our engine dyno test package includes free chassis dyno testing to verify “installed” engine performance expectations.
